The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed a Bloody-Disgusting report that Dimension Films is remaking John Landis' 1981 horror cult classic An American Werewolf in London.

The studio has picked up the rights from Landis. Overture executives-turned-producers Sean and Bryan Furst are on board to produce.

Landis wrote and directed the original, which starred David Naughton and Griffin Dunne as two American backpackers hiking in the Yorkshire moors attacked by a mysterious animal who turns out to be a werewolf.

Landis will act as an executive producer and possibly consult. No writer or director is on board yet.
 
Pero había remake ya, ¿no? Aquella de UN HOMBRE LOBO AMERICANO EN PARÍS, con la Delpy...

Era Julie Bowen, creo. En este remake podria meter a Megan Fox, ya que estamos.

En este caso justifico al remake. La original tenía medía hora antológica pero una vez dejada la campiña británica era un quiero y no puedo alarmante. Por instantes parecía una producción de zucker. La segunda parte con la delpy era malilla lo dice un fan fatal de julie pero todos tenemos que pagar facturas.
 
Max Landis, son of famed filmmaker John Landis, was set to both pen and direct a remake of his father’s iconic classic “An American Werewolf in London”.


“We’ll see if I can do it. We’ll see if I can pull it off. We’ll see if they even make it. My goal is I feel like all of the best remakes focus on one thing in the original movie, take a lot of the images of the original and then remix that really tightly. With American Werewolf I’m doing that, but I’m also just gonna try and do American Werewolf as best I can. We’ll see. I can’t make no promises.”

One thing he is happy to discuss though is a desire to approach the film from a very practical FX angle and to only apply CG judiciously in certain areas:

“The thing I would do with CGI, were I directing this film, would be leg movement, and I would have the entire wolf’s face, back and body be practical, and then I would fully CGI the legs for organic movements. If you remake American Werewolf and the transformation scene isn’t practical, you have f–ked up.”
 
Es un poco bajo eso de coger al hijo para rehacer al padre. Y Max Landis, que cuando abre la boca sube el pan.
 
Me preguntaba cuánto tardarían en anunciar al hijo como parte del remake. Si lo fichan al menos la cagarán de forma interesante.
 
Pues a éste me lo veo haciendo un Josh Trank, entre que sería su primera peli de estudio como director, y con el legado "debo honrar a papá".

Con lo de los FX físicos me acuerdo de la última EL HOMBRE LOBO, que acabó jubilando a Rick Baker...
 
El mejor Landis, sin duda.

Curioso que tratándose de un director de comedia, su mejor película no sea precisamente una comedia pura.

Lo de su hijo haciendo el remake y tal...
