Yo empiezo a temer que no la saquen, es mas teniendo las 4 primeras temporadas españolas pedi el pack de las 5 a amazon canada temiendome que nunca saliera la 5ª aqui y lo tuve que devolver porque me clavaron 36 euros de aduanas a pesar de pedir por envio standard...una putada porque era la primera vez que pedia a amazon y ahora me tienta the shield que tambien tiene un precio acojonante pero si mandan por DHL me clavan los de aduanas seguro, asi que no se

Pues a ver como veo yo la 5ª temporada estoy a 1 capitulo de terminar la cuarta...con diferencia la mejor de todas hasta ahora, brutal:hail:hail:hail

Si han sido capaces de remasterizarla en HD, lo más gordo ya está hecho. Editarla en Blu-ray es un paso más pequeño.

De todas formas David Simon siempre se ha mostrado muy reticente a una versión en HD de The Wire pese a estar rodada en 35mm ya que la serie se ideó en 4:3. Pero el caso es que, con la estandarización de la alta definición, todas las cadenas de TV se están viendo obligadas a remasterizar sus series antiguas para poder seguir emitiéndolas y The Wire nunca se masterizó en HD. Lo más relevante será comprobar si han respetado el 4:3.
Veremos como queda la cosa.

Lo que está bastante claro es que solo por el aumento de definición y la mejora en la compresión en una futurible edición en Blu-ray, el salto cualitativo frente al DVD sería importante.
 
La única lástima de la edición en DVD es esa cuarta temporada que tiene una calidad muy baja, sólo por poder ver esa maravillosa cuarta temporada en condiciones ya valdrá la pena el Blu-ray.
 
Confirmado: saldrá en Blu-ray el próximo verano.

In the six years that have passed since the conclusion of the HBO series The Wire, the critically acclaimed drama has turned into a worldwide phenomenon that has been hailed as “one of the best and most original series on television in decades” by the New York Times. Now, new and old fans of the series can watch the show like never before thanks to a brand new High-Definition upgrade of all 60 episodes, which will debut in December on HBO Signature® and HBO GO®. The Wire: The Complete Series will be available to own on Digital HD Monday, January 5, 2015 and on Blu-ray™ in Summer 2015.
  • The entire series has been beautifully re-mastered in 16x9 Full-Frame HD from more than 8,000 reels of original 35mm camera negative, allowing for a tighter fit on widescreen TVs and computer/tablet screens. The original negatives were scanned, edited, dust-busted and color-corrected with great care and attention taken to stay true to the look and feel of the original Standard-Definition 4x3 version.
  • The Wire: The Complete Series in HD will be available for the first time as a full series purchase at iTunes, Google Play, X-Box Video and Vudu on January 5. Individual episodes and seasons will be available through all of HBO’s Digital HD retailers.
  • To celebrate the HD launch, HBO Signature will air the entire series consecutively, one season per day starting with season 1 on Friday, December 26 at noon. The marathon will wrap with season 5 on Tuesday, December 30.
  • This will be the first time The Wire has aired on a linear HBO channel since Season 5 wrapped in 2008, as well as the first time that all five seasons of the entire series have aired consecutively on the network.
  • All 60 episodes will also be available in HD on HBO GO starting December 26.

Pues tras leer a Simon, y muy a mi pesar, en un principio no voy a gastar un euro en esta remasterización. Queda mucho para el verano y espero que sean capaces de rectificar y lanzar el Blu-Ray en el formato original.
 
Anda que sacarlo primero en descarga digital meses antes del estreno en BR....

Bien!, a ver si sale editada aquí con audio en castellano y en la primera oferta atractiva, a la saca.
 
Salvo sorpresa mayúscula, estoy convencido de que saldrá aquí. Y sobre el precio, para este tipo de packs Warner suele fijar un precio recomendado entre los 80 y 100 euros, así que en época de rebajas podría incluso bajar de los 60 euros.
 
Aunque sin grandes anuncios, poco a poco han ido apareciendo tiendas europeas con pre-venta de The Wire en Blu-ray. De momento tanto en UK como en Francia aparece listado el pack para la primera semana de junio y en Alemania Warner ha comentado que saldrá sobre esas fechas. O en otras palabras, está cantado que saldrá en España y que lo hará en junio.
