J.J. Abrams Talks Star Trek 3

In promotion mode for Star Trek Into Darkness, director J.J. Abrams sat down with Playboy to talk about the sequel, and of course his next big sci-fi project, Star Wars: Episode VII. While the interview is quite lengthy, don't expect the master of secrets to have spilled any big revelations about either franchise. The biggest piece of news to come out of this chat is the fact that he's still considering directing Star Trek 3, which Paramount would like to get into theaters by 2016.

When asked if he was trading Star Trek for Star Wars, the director stated the following.

" No. I would say [directing Star Trek 3] it's a possibility. We're trying to figure out the next step. But it's like anything: It all begins with the story."

If Paramount pushes to get Star Trek 3 into theaters in the summer of 2016, J.J. Abrams would literally be working on both sequels at the same time. The director doesn't see any danger of the two franchises colliding,

Damon Lindelof dice que los Klingon podrían ser los malos de ‘Star Trek 3′. Asegura que también conoce el argumento principal de la película.

Damon Lindelof, el amigo de la ciencia ficción al que muchos odian desde el final de Perdidos y Prometheus, es también el guionista habitual de Abrams en la saga Star Trek y durante la premiere británica de la última película de la saga hablo sobre el futuro inmediato de la misma con los chicos de Hey U Guys.

Durante la entrevista Lindelof comenta que cuando pensaron en la trama de la primera entrega ya sacaron ideas para esta segunda película, y preguntado por si había planeada una tercera película Lindelof afirma que “es la conclusión lógica. Uno siempre debería saber dónde ha estado, dónde se encuentra, pero sobre todo, y yo aprendí eso de Perdidos, uno debería saber hacia dónde va.”

Al referirse sobre el posible antagonista de la tercera parte Lindelof apuesta por lo seguro: “Nunca puedes ver suficientes Klingons. Pienso que hemos proporcionado al público un pequeño bocado, pero también hay una promesa de un conflicto mayor en el horizonte y sería muy divertido poder ver eso.”

Attack the Block Director Joe Cornish Wanted for Star Trek 3

Attack the Block director Joe Cornish is reportedly one of the top contenders to take over for J.J. Abrams on Star Trek 3. Take a look at these tweets from Latino Review's El Mayimbe, then read on for more about the sequel.

Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams revealed last month that he may still direct Star Trek 3, but that may not happen for a long time, since he is currently working on Star Wars: Episode VII, which is slated for release in 2015. Writer Damon Lindelof revealed earlier this month that Star Trek 3 may center on the Klingons, and that the villainous John Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch) may be back as well.

Joe Cornish made his feature directorial debut with Attack the Block. He also co-wrote the screenplay for The Adventures of Tintin, and is working on the Ant-Man script with director Edgar Wright.

Nothing official has been announced for Star Trek 3 at this time, so stay tuned.

Star Trek 3 Will Shoot in 2014 with J.J. Abrams Possibly Directing

Star Trek Into Darkness star Zachary Quinto attended the Galway Film Festival on Friday, July 12, where he dropped a couple of bold and shocking statements about the accelerated shooting schedule of Star Trek 3, originally planned for a 2016 release date.

According to Spock himself, the sequel is moving at an expedient rate. This is his one and only exact quote.

"Star Trek 3 should be filming, I suppose, next year. It's going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That's the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet."


BuzzHub reported this news before going onto reveal a couple other 'non-quoted' sound bites. Which means this second part of the story is highly suspect.

According to Zachary Quinto, J.J. Abrams will return to direct Star Trek 3. And he will be doing it the same year as he is set to direct Star Wars: Episode VII, which could put the two films in direct competition at the summer 2015 box office.

It seems nearly impossible that such a thing would be true. Though, Steven Spielberg did shoot Jurassic Park and Schindler's List in the same year. And he shot Poltergeist and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in the same year. All four are classics. Is J.J. Abrams truly going to try and pull off such a daring feat? Will people complain about both films being rushed?

Zachary Quinto was quite candid about Star Trek Into Darkness while it was in production, and often complained about how the script was written and re-written on the fly. The movie turned out to be a lot of fun for some audience members, but others have torn the sequel apart for being a mess of a story filled with too many plot holes to stand up to repeat viewings.

Zachary Quinto went onto say that he has no aspirations to be in Star Wars: Episode VII, giving no reason for why. He did, however, express his desire to appear in an episode of The Big Bang Theory.

No me parece probable que JJ dirija la tercera de Star Trek cuando Paramount la quiere si ó si para 2016 y este tiene pendiente rodar y estrenar Star Wars VII en 2015.

El ejemplo que mencionan de Spielberg no deja de tener su gracia pero dudo que JJ se atreva a hacerlo.

Alex Kurtzman y Roberto Orci regresan para una nueva aventura de 'Star Trek'; Jon M. Chu y Rupert Wyatt posibles directores

A pesar de los rumores recientes sobre la posibilidad de que un nuevo equipo de guionistas se encargase de la próxima entrega de Star Trek para Paramount Pictures, The Hollywood Reporter informa que tanto Alex Kurtzman como Roberto Orci volverán al Enterprise para una nueva aventura, por el momento titulada, 'Star Trek 3'. Quien no volverá es Damon Lindelof, quien colaboró en el guión de 'Star Trek: En la oscuridad'. Respecto a J.J. Abrams, se encuentra negociando su vuelta como productor.

Respecto al tema director, descartado Abrams, hace unas horas comenzó a extenderse un rumor que situaba a Jon M. Chu ('G.I. Joe: Retaliation') como posible director. Lo cierto es que parecía poco probable puesto que para ello tendría que abandonar la tercera entrega de los G.I. Joe, por lo que sus representantes se apresuraron en decir que no habían tenido ningún tipo de contacto para dirigir el proyecto.

Fue entonces cuando surgió el nombre de Rupert Wyatt ('Rise of the Planet of the Apes'), quien tras abandonar la secuela de los simios se ha unido a varios proyectos, aunque ninguno de ellos tan importantes como Star Trek (si finalmente se materializa su contratación), por lo que a pesar de no haber nada oficial, parece la opción más factible.

Por el momento no hay fecha de estreno para el film, si bien es probable que la entrega número 13 de la franquicia llegue en 2016, aprovechando el 50 aniversario de la saga. Los créditos de Orci y Kurtzman incluyen películas como 'Transformers', 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' y 'Cowboys and Aliens', mientras que su nueva serie, 'Sleepy Hollow' se estrenará el próximo 16 de septiembre en la FOX.

La segunda entrega estrenada este mismo verano contó con el regreso de Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg y Anton Yelchin, además de añadir nuevos roles interpretados por Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve y Peter Weller. Aunque la cinta recaudó más de 450 millones de dólares en la taquilla mundial, las críticas de los trekkies más fanáticos no fueron muy positivas que digamos.

Rupert Wyatt no lo hizo mal en El origen del planeta de los simios, pero aprovechando que el Pisuerga pasa por Valladolid, y Matt Reeves (que me parece mejor director que Wyatt) ya estará a punto de terminar el rodaje de Dawn of the planet of the apes :pensativo...

Tras aceptar J.J. Abrams dirigir 'Star Wars. Episode VII' una de las grandes dudas que surgieron fue... ¿y quién será entonces el director de 'Star Trek 3'? Abrams sigue asociado a la franquicia como productor, si bien está claro que sus compromisos con Lucasfilm le van a impedir hacerse cargo de la dirección de la tercera entrega de la saga que él ha revivido.

Tras sonar hace algún tiempo nombres como los de Jon M. Chu ('G.I. Joe: La venganza') o Rupert Wyatt ('El origen del planeta de los simios'), quien ahora se presenta de nuevo como el principal favorito es Joe Cornish, guionista junto a Edgar Wright 'Las aventuras de Tintín: El secreto del unicornio' y 'Ant-Man', y que hace un par de años debutase como director con la simpática 'Attack the Block'.

Desde Latino Review desvelaron el pasado mes de mayo que el de Cornish fue uno de los primeros nombres en ponerse sobre la mesa, siendo ahora que desde Deadline confirman que la propuesta está sobre la mesa. La intención del estudio es poder entrar en producción durante el verano de 2014 con el fin de estrenar en 2015 o 2016, como muy tarde, por lo que quieren atar cuanto antes a un director que se ponga, codo con codo, a trabajar con Roberto Orci y Alex Kurtzman en la redacción del libreto.

Joe Cornish se aleja de 'Star Trek 3'

Aunque la próxima secuela de Star Trek sigue avanzando para comenzar su producción en 2014, la búsqueda de director por parte de Paramount todavía no ha llegado a su fin. Hace unas semanas se anunciaba que Joe Cornish ('Attack the Block ') era el principal candidato para tomar el relevo de J.J. Abrams en la franquicia, después de que este último se decantase por la nueva trilogía de 'Star Wars'. El propio Abrams revelaba recientemente en una entrevista que 'Star Trek 3' sería el próximo proyecto de Cornish, pero no será así puesto que las últimas informaciones señalan que el director ya no negocia su participación con el estudio.

Variety es quien informa que el estudio ha vuelto a la carga en la búsqueda de un director después del fallido intento de Cornish. El motivo por el cual las conversaciones no fructificaron no se ha hecho público, aunque bien podría haber sido el cambio de guionistas anunciado el pasado viernes.

Y es que mientras que el guión de las dos películas anteriores fueron escritos por Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman y Damon Lindelof, en esta ocasión sólo Orci repetirá junto con los recién llegados J.D. Payne y Patrick McKay.

Yo creo que esta es la oportunidad de Lindelof de saltar (se podría dar una buena hostia:diablillo:diablillo) y ponerse el mono de director.

Es cierto, la posición que ahora obstentan es envidiable.

Pero como "Star Wars" fracase, verás tu el tinglado que se han montado donde puede acabar..
 
Hombre, SW no puede fracasar nunca. Eso lo tengo claro. No por la calidad implícita si no que todo lo que lleve la marca registrada es un éxito seguro antes tan siquiera ponerse tras la cámara.

Y si no ya la retocará Lucas.
