Michael Bay Shoots Down Megan Fox TRANSFORMERS 4 Rumors
Michael Bay and Megan Fox may have reconciled their differences but that doesn't mean Fox will be returning in the next installment in the Transformers franchise. Bay gave an emphatic 'No' when questioned about Fox's possible return.
It didn't take long for this rumor to be debunked. Fox, currently busy filming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as April O'Neil, recently found her name rumored for a cameo appearance as Mikaela in Transformers 4 starring Mark Wahlberg and actress Nicola Peltz. Both films are being produced by Bay with Jonathan Liebesman handling directing duties on Ninja Turtles while Bay steers the Transformers ship himself. It should really come as no surprise that this particular rumors turned out to be untrue as it began due to an instagram hashstag snafu of all things. Still, Bay had to set the record straight when asked, stating, "No. Because it's a totally different story. It's with Mark Wahlberg and his daughter. It's the same [world]. You have the three movies, but there's a reason why there's a new cast. And it's explained very clearly when you see it, and it's going to feel natural. So it's not like we're starting over or anything like that." The fourth installment picks up four years after the events of Dark of the Moon. Actor Shia LaBeouf and Fox replacement Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are unlikely to return as well, but there have been more substantial rumblings about a cameo appearance from Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson.
Back in May, unidentified insiders claimed that Transformers 4 director Michael Bay planned on bringing back the DinoBots, a staple of the 1980s animated Transformers TV series, into his action sequel which is currently in production. Star Mark Wahlberg recently addressed the rumors, which he did not confirm, but did not deny either. Here's what he had to say, while promoting his upcoming action-thriller 2 Guns, when asked if he had run across any DinoBots on the set.
"None of your business. You don't want me to get replaced halfway through production for divulging secrets."
That report from May revealed that the main villain is named Lockdown, who has a ship full of decommissioned Transformers including Grimlock and the rest of the Dinobots, and that Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will ride two of these Dinobots into a battle scene set in Hong Kong. None of this has been confirmed as of yet, but the actor's response certainly lends more credence to the report.
Plus, the actor revealed that this sequel feels like a whole new take on the franchise, and gave more details about his character.
"It feels like a completely different movie, very fresh. Obviously, it's a really interesting dynamic, being a young, single dad having a teenage daughter, trying to succeed as an inventor, having very little means and also trying to provide for my family. Then all hell breaks loose."
Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, T.J.
