Daft Punk, Rolling Stone, And Saint Laurent Paris
With the forthcoming release of Random Access Memories, Daft Punk has spurred avid talk amongst avid fans and a pantheon of music websites. Last night at Coachella, the French duo revealed the list of star- studded collaborators to be on the future release including Pharrell, Julian Casablancas, Nile Rodgers, and more.
Now, the French fashion powerhouse Saint Laurent Paris have previewed a series of images, revealing a modern and sleek look for the Robots. Donned in black blazers and metallic sequins, the Robots look like an A-list cast to a musical sci-fi film. According to the french mogul, the collaboration between the two began in October 2012.
Rolling Stone has also shared snippets into their interview with the two masterminds behind Daft Punk: Thomas Bangalter and Guy- Manuel de Homem-Christo. In regards to the album, Daft Punk started working on it in 2008. It was produced across the globe including New York’s legendary Electric Ladyland studio, Los Angeles’ old A&M studio, and in Paris. It seems that Nile Rodgers was right when he mentioned that the band looked back to move forward, as there are only drum machines in two tracks and the electronics used are played on custom built modular synthesizers. The band also gave the titles to three songs: "Get Lucky," featuring Pharrell and Nile Rodgers, "Contact," and "Lose Yourself To Dance" featuring Pharrell.
Dont expect the duo to tour anytime soon though. "We want to focus everything on the act and excitement of listening to the album," said Thomas to Rolling Stone. "We don’t see a tour as an accessory to an album." That's not it. The French duo is also planned to collaborate with the Louis Vuitton don, Kanye West, on his next album.
