As to the situation on AE, my "source" said that Shyamalan originally insisted the entire score be written for solo piano - nothing more. JHN protested lightly, Shyamalan relented, JNH went ahead and wrote what was basically an action/suspense score for unaccompanied piano - and as he predicted/warned, that approach did not work at all for this kind of film. So the score we do hear is a rushed last-minute extrapolation of that original piano score, hobbled together with much frustration in the eleventh hour by JNH & his team of orchestrators.

So I'm told!
 
I have it on good authority from a source who's worked with JNH before that the situation on AE is indeed the reason why they won't likely be working together anytime soon.

Pues cago sobre los muertos de ambos. De uno y de otro. Si esto fuera un nuevo film independiente de Shyamalan no me importaría lo más mínimo. Pero esto es la secuela de Unbreakable. Y Unbreakable es JNH tanto como el indio.

Qué rabia que algo que a priori apuntaba tan bonito se fastidie por mierdas así.

Si, una de las asociaciones compositor-director más bellas y fructíferas surgidas en los últimos años fastidiada por una bronca interna respecto a diferencias creativas. Qué son adultos ya, demonios.

Pero ojo, que la cosa se complica y yo ya no entiendo nada de nada :roto2.

En Film Music Reporter hay un comentario de alguien que dice que asistió a una masterclass de JNH hace poco donde este contó que estaba trabajando en Glass aunque no estaría acreditado pues no sería el compositor principal, y que el y Shya volverían a trabajar juntos pronto. Pero a saber si es cierto.


I have heard it from JNH himself, at a composer talk, that he is working on Glass. He said it wont be as full composer, but that he will be doing something on the film.

@KLopeK, cómo dices en esta ya la excusa presupuestaria no cuela. Aquí hay algo más.


Okay. Let’s look at the facts:

– Some Blumhouse movies have had orchestral scores (Get Out, Happy Death Day)

– James Newton Howard has written electronic scores in the past (anything before The Package) and present (Nightcrawler, Detroit)

– This film is getting a bigger budget than the usual Blumhouse product

– I’m damn sure that some good scores have come from utilizing a handful of orchestral players and an electronic palette (John Ottman’s Trapped springs to mind)

And still, this guy is scoring “Glass”? I smell fish.
 
A ver, en el caso que sea una colaboración entre ambos seria lo mejor porque no estaría bien prescindir de alguno de ellos.

Se ha reeditado la partitura completa (Rhino Records + Warner) de La Comunidad del Anillo, esta vez en formato 3CD +Blu Ray Audio o en vinilo. Sin embargo, en servicios en streaming solo sigue estando la completa de el retorno del rey, las otras no.
