Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler) has revealed that even though the "Robocop" sequels were PG-13, he would still love to return to the hardcore tone of Paul Verhoeven's original R-rated film for his remake.
"If we do it, it [can] definitely be rated R," said Aronofsky. "I mean, [it won't] necessarily, but we have that freedom."
He added that the new movie is still in the script stages and that he and David Self (Road to Perdition) are still developing ideas. "We have a long way to go," explained Aronofsky. "So until there's a screenplay, there's nothing to really talk about. Until we're going, it just doesn't exist for me. It's just like we're trying to get something good, and we'll see what happens."
At this point, MGM is looking to get "Robocop" into theaters by 2010.
