Ah, pues si ya hay review de blu.com y todo. Pues a falta de los típicos desvaríos que se puedan dar por los foros acerca de la imagen del UHD, aqui una review profesional seria con algo de cordura para situarnos en contexto:
Saving Private Ryan is a very gritty movie.It's meant to appear raw, grainy, rough around the edges.And the UHD handles its complexities masterfully.The 2160p true 4K image boasts remarkable detailing.Textures on helmets are tangibly rough.Every bit of sand is accounted for on Normandy, and every bit of war-torn rubble in Ramelle reveals each rough edge and pebbly remnant with enough sharpness to cut the viewer, particularly as it gets tossed about by the fight but also even as it's merely lying on the ground in a state of war-torn ruin.Grain is certainly very pronounced and an integral part of the viewing experience.Smoke-filled scenes do see it rise in intensity to the point of appearing more noisy, but the film's bulk does see it present with excellent adherence to a natural, even, well distributed field.Detailing extends beyond environments, of course,.Characters are complex, particularly considering gritty, war-weathered faces, often under a fine layer of grime.Dust, water, and blood are often more prominent than pores, stubble, and wrinkles, though each is handled with a very nuanced and accurate level of revelatory complexity and inherent source sharpness.There's a significant boost in sharpness and clarity compared to the Blu-ray, again now about eight years on the market.It still looks fairly good, but the add in definition and stability prove critical and reveal a leap in the image's overall presentation.
The 12-bit Dolby Vision color presentation brightens the image without sacrificing its gritty, desaturated intent.Colors are a little less dour to be sure, but the increased push certainly proves a more significant transformation to the image than does even the often striking boost in resolution.Whites are much brighter for one.The film's opening titles and a few cards throughout the film look comparatively dreary on Blu-ray whereas there's an unmistakable pop and cleanliness on the UHD.It's a difficult sell on a movie like this;the denaturation, the emphasis on beiges, greens, and grays are critical to defining mood and atmosphere, but the Dolby Vision transformation -- it's more a transformation than it is a compliment -- brings a life to the movie that accentuates its style rather than marginalizes or minimizes it in any way.There's a new intensity to even the rather dour palette.Clothes and helmets, beige and green, largely, enjoy much more vitality within the film's color parameters.Take a look at a shot of Captain Miller's helmet at the 27:09 mark (which is a great shot to showcase the increase in raw clarity and detail, too, not only the helmet's bumpy texture but also the drastic increase in facial definition as the camera slowly zooms in on him. Ese bitrate increíble de 74,88mpbs presagia algo monumental. Qué ganas.
Hoy he visto con la familia Peter Rabbit 4K (edición americana de Sony) y desde luego en Sony hacen las cosas de forma especial. La perfección de la imagen desde el primer al último segundo es otra confirmación que en los estudios de Sony tratan la imagen digital con una exquisitez bastante por encima de lo habitual.
Hoy he visto con la familia Peter Rabbit 4K (edición americana de Sony) y desde luego en Sony hacen las cosas de forma especial. La perfección de la imagen desde el primer al último segundo es otra confirmación que en los estudios de Sony tratan la imagen digital con una exquisitez bastante por encima de lo habitual.

Un repasito por encima y el soldado ryan es un disco perfecto, mejora claramente lo que ya teníamos pero tiene grano en cantidades industriales así que estáis avisados a los que os moleste. Aunque ya se sabía siendo la peli que es.

He comparado un pelín entre el 4K Dolby Vision y el Bluray. Y lo curioso es que al ir a buscar mi edición Bluray sdr, he sido consciente de que todavía la tenía sin desprecintar en la estantería, por lo que en 1080p sdr ni siquiera la había visto aún, así que la última vez que la vi, pues sería en DVD, y posiblemente antes de eso en cines jajaja. Que manera de tirar la pasta al retrete, porque ahora ya no me vale ni para posavasos.

Es que he formateado el ordenador para hacer una instalación limpia de windows 10 primavera y estoy poniendo todo en su sitio.

Les points négatifs :
L'étalonnage de certaines séquences est malheureusement loin d'être toujours optimisé. A tel point que certains plans nous paraissent surfaits, artificiels car affichant des couleurs flashy (rose et turquoise) très "Bubble Gum" voire "cartoonesques". Paramount semble être allé un peu trop loin par endroit... En tout cas, c'est notre avis.
Autre point critique : la présence de DNR (Digital Noise Reduction), chargé de réduire le grain argentique, qui vient lisser de manière artificielle les textures. Toutes les séquences ne sont pas touchées et le grain 35mm reste heureusement préservé sur la majorité du film. Mais pour les plans souffrant de cet usage de DNR, les résultats sont fâcheux.
Conclusion : des résultats extrêmement hétérogènes. Grease en 4K, c'est du bon et du moins bon...

Siempre me ha llamado la atención: ¿por qué los metadatos de Dolby Vision siempre salen como 1080p? ¿No debería salir además en 12 bits y no en 10?

Eso es por el software que se usa que no lo identifica bien, seguramente no deberia ni identificarlo como video si no solo como un archivo de Metadatos sin ninguna informacion de mas.

Queréis saber cuáles son los mejores 5 UHD HDR? Pues no os perdáis el vídeo de AR Media juas
Laberinto: Rodada con un grano prominente, éste se ve más definido que en la versión Blu-ray. El detalle es mayor pero dado el material original, nada revolucionario. El HDR bastante contenido aunque aporta detalles como por ejemplo los destellos de purpurina que están esparcidos por casi todos los decorados. El tope de este material andaba entre 1080p y 4K, con lo que ya no va a ser posible conseguir sacar ni una gota más de información aunque nos la vuelvan a editar en un futuro a 8K.
Cazafantasmas: Caso muy similar al de Laberinto, si bien en este caso el HDR está algo más presente con momentos destacables como el uso de los rayos para atrapar fantasmas. Se ve ligeramente mejor que el Blu-ray, pero es ya imposible sacar algo mejor del material original.
Como curiosidad, acto seguido probé la versión UHD de Cazafantasmas de Netflix y es sorprendente la poca distancia que la separa del UHDBD. La compresión de Netflix retiene casi todo el grano sin empastamientos apreciables ni pérdida de detalle. Sabía que se veía bien, pero hasta que no haces la comparación seguida no te das cuenta. Sin HDR, claro.
Cazafantasmas: Caso muy similar al de Laberinto, si bien en este caso el HDR está algo más presente con momentos destacables como el uso de los rayos para atrapar fantasmas. Se ve ligeramente mejor que el Blu-ray, pero es ya imposible sacar algo mejor del material original.
Como curiosidad, acto seguido probé la versión UHD de Cazafantasmas de Netflix y es sorprendente la poca distancia que la separa del UHDBD. Se debe a que usaron una obturación más rápida de lo normal en las cámaras de 35mm buscando un efecto nuevo, más dramático e intenso de forma que se pudiesen apreciar mejor los movimientos bruscos, la arena por el aire, la lluvia, etc.
Eso a veces generaba cosas raras en la luz pero ayudan siempre a mantener un tono realista único en la historia del cine.
Acabo de verla entera, con su nueva pista Atmos, con volumen muy alto y globalmente ha sido una de las mejores experiencias audiovisuales de mi vida.
24 fps, El Hobbit, la regla de los 180º y cómo se la saltaron en Salvar al Soldado Ryan - filmstitute
