While nothing has been confirmed at this time, Twilight star Robert Pattinson is reportedly Disney's top choice to replace Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5. Here's what an unidentified insider told The Daily Star, revealing that Disney is looking at long-term options for the franchise, including spin-offs and video games.
"Disney is looking at its long-term options for the Indiana Jones franchise. They feel that the series has huge potential on many levels, starting with the films leading to other spin-offs like games which can generate more money than movies. Rob is top of the initial list because he has showed his acting stripes away from Twilight. But the competition will be stiff."
The source claims that the 71-year-old Harrison Ford is "getting too old" to play the iconic character, and he is also committed to filming the new Star Wars movies.
Disney acquired the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise back in December, but there haven't been any concrete plans announced for Indiana Jones 5 at this time. A report circulated in February that Harrison Ford has signed on for two more Indiana Jones movies, but that has not been confirmed.
We also reported in March that Disney was planning to reboot the franchise, with Bradley Cooper being eyed to take over the iconic role, although that story was debunked just a few days later.
