'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' Test Footage Released 30 Years Later
Paul Reubens voices Roger Rabbit in an early 1983 version of 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?', years before the 1988 film was made.

Years before Robert Zemeckis directed the revolutionary live-action/animated hybrid Who Framed Roger Rabbit? in 1988, an earlier version was mounted at Walt Disney Studios between 1981 and 1983, which had Darrell Van Citters set to direct. Today, an eight-minute video has been unearthed that shows John Culhane taking viewers behind-the-scenes of this unmade version, which featured Paul Reubens as the voice of Roger Rabbit and Russi Taylor as the voice of Jessica Rabbit.

The video also shows a number of concept art images, that show how vastly different the earlier versions of these characters were, and we have a few split-screen photos with the 1981-1983 artwork next to the finished characters from the 1988 film. Richard Williams directed the animation for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, there was an earlier attempt at Disney, from 1981 to 1983, to adapt Gary K. Wolf's book "Who Censored Roger Rabbit."

John Culhane takes us behind the scenes of the unmade Darrell Van Citters version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, 1983. With animator Mike Giamo and producer Marcus Sturdivant.

While Roger was a villain in the book, trying to solve his own murder, this Roger is a loveable goofball in white fur and red overalls - a prototype for the final film. Baby Herman is glimpsed only briefly, and Jessica Rabbit appears to be the villain of the piece. Still, this version clearly laid some groundwork for the Zemeckis/Williams production a few years later.

The prototype Roger Rabbit appears cheering in the stands in the featurette "Sport Goofy in Soccermania."

A raíz de la de Nolan, me he puesto Contact y uf, es muy jodida y mira que Zemeckis tiene mano para el ritmo y los encuadres, pero es que todo el rollo de la fe da vergüenza, la Foster intensísima atraganta, no hay un solo personaje que no sea puro cliché y el clímax espacial de la Foster puede ser, sin exageraciones, la escena más cursi jamás rodada. Con todo, se puede ver por el tema que trata y porque Zemeckis es atractivo en lo visual, de hecho todavía la recordaba peor.
 
Lo del hijo de Gary Busey y la playa intergaláctica dan un poco de risa y luego al final se acobarda con lo de la grabación, pero el rollo Saganiano me encanta y Zemeckis está sueltísimo.

Hay un plano en el que digitalizan a la Foster y mezclan cinco o seis tomas distintas en una misma, eso es de mad doctor o de aburrirse mucho en el set.

A mí me gusta (más lo del SETI que el resto).
 
A mí me parece preocupante que Ropit haya decidido revisar Contact.

en la pagina 6 ya nos reiamos un poco de CONTACT, con ese Busey Jr maloso visto en monitores llevando una bomba. Creo que guiñaba el ojo a camara.

Misión a Marte es una exhibición de De Palma en lo técnico e incluso el guión en su primera parte es más que interesante, pero tiene otro final vergonzoso ¿qué coño pasa con los finales de estas películas?

Imagino a De Palma con el guión y la libertad de Interstellar y me corro.

Estaba de resaca, tirado en el sofá y me había gustado mucho la de Nolan. Me quise documentar por si ya había logros trascendentales sobre el tema. Respect.

Para desintoxicar y bajar el azúcar, ayer me fui al cine a ver Blue Ruin.

Y si, a mi me chifla Contact y el video/grabación que te hace dudar (aunque tú sepas que la has visto "viajando") justifica el personaje de Mckinajú y de la película: la FE. La máquina y esa playa galáctica con el padre me la ponen dura. Puro Estebanismo, hombre.
 
Estaba trolleando un poco. Zemeckis tiene cosas chulas (creo, porque ni he revisado ni revisaré aka NHRNR).

K, pero lo horrendo es lo de decir que hay 18 horas grabadas que quita cualquier duda. Lo otro que dices es casi lo único que me gustó del puto tema de la fe.
 
Zemeckis es el típico al que ahora despachan con condescendencia los hierafontes del neonoir y del audiovisual misántropo por RECUERDO DISTORSIONADO.


El vídeo de Contact no deja ningún lugar a duda.
