- Cosas a favor.

'Star Wars 7' Is Set 30 Years After 'Return of the Jedi'; Heroic Trio to Be Features. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that production will begin in May, and that the story will feature new young leads and returning favorites.

Disney held its annual shareholders meeting in Portland, Oregon today, where the studio's CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII will be set 30 years after the events of 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. The executive also confirmed that the story will center on three young leads, along with a number of unconfirmed stars from the original trilogy.

"There will be some very familiar faces along with a trio of new young leads."

Of course, these three young stars have not been cast yet, although there are a number of actors in contention. We reported last week that Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Matthew James Thomas (About a Boy), and Broadway star Ray Fisher are vying for the role of a Jedi apprentice, alongside the long rumored Breaking Bad actor Jesse Plemons. Girls star Adam Driver is in talks to play the villain, although no details were given regarding his character. We also reported last week that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) is being eyed to play a Sith descendant of Obi Wan Kenobi.

Bob Iger also confirmed that production will begin this May at Pinewood Studios in London, and offered this statement regarding the concept art he's seen so far.

"(It) really looks amazing. For now, that's it. I'll get in trouble if I say more."

The CEO said it's "too early" to reveal more information about this highly-anticipated sequel, but with production scheduled to begin two months from now, we may finally get casting confirmations and story details in the near future.
