Remember when you first heard Star Trek Into Darkness as a title? It was hard to believe it was the real thing, but time has softened that blow (for most, anyway). The same is true of the rumored official title for Star Wars: Episode VII. If this is real, while its a tad awkward and on the nose, we'll probably get used to it fairly quickly. Aint It Cool News reports that various sources, not working together, have uncovered what they believe is the working title of director J.J. Abrams highly anticipate sequel. Right now, it is called Star Wars: Episode VII - The Ancient Fear.
It is a play on Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, and is said to be in reference to Max von Sydow's character, who is a very evil villain. It is not know if this character is a Sith, but the source had this to say.
"...It refers to Max von Sydow's villain who makes Pazuzu look like a pussy!"
For those not up to speed on their pop culture, Pazuzu is the demon that possesses Linda Blair in The Exorcist. Aint It Cool News has a strict policy about not running Star Wars: Episode VII rumors unless they hear it from two different sources at different times, and apparently that's what happened here.
The news was first reported by the same inside spy who revealed the production was shooting in Abu Dhabi. They later offered this information as the official title. Aint It Cool News ran the name by all of their various sources, and couldn't get a response. Harry Jay Knowles himself went directly to director J.J. Abrams and was met with stone cold silence. This is thought to be quite suspicious, especially since the title wasn't at all denied.
