Otro experto (a este le sigo puntualmente) ha añadido algo muy revelador a colación de lo anterior, que me parece muy interesante sobre los UHD de origen DI 2K
Todo de Geoff D, el experto, que se autocita:
Yep, 2K vs HD is a tiny amount of difference, like when you get the occasional super-nut on here who starts going about about 4K not being 4K because it's 3840 and not 4096. Sheesh. BUUUUUUT I'll just repost this from earlier in this same thread, FWIW:

People never factor in the possibility of the BD already being filtered in some way, they never factor in the 4x chroma resolution of an upscale, they never factor in the visibly improved temporal resolution due to the more efficient compression.
Does all this make up for the lack of actual 4K resolution source masters? No, and I've never said that it does. But it still doesn't mean that upscales should just be blithely dismissed out of hand.
So yeah, the BD representation of that 2K source being pre-filtered in some way (indeed, the 2K to HD downscale is often the culprit) is OF COURSE more on the BD being shortchanged than the UHD upscaling process itself somehow "adding" something, but now we're playing semantics because if the UHD does bring more physical spatial detail with it vs the Blu - and I've seen a fair few that do when directly comparing the Blu to the UHD side by side - then that's still a win in my book.
As for the upscaling of the BD having a part to play that's fair enough, but one thing to bear in mind is that 1920x1080 into 3840x2160 is directly proportional along both axes, it'd be harder to **** that up than to get it right. I've also done lots of checking with Spears & Munsil, DVE and other test discs to make sure that no detail is being filtered off during the 1080p upscaling at my end.
