Just got a chance to check to test it out. I am assuming you meant the two shots, one a close up of Will Smith's eye, then a medium shot of him getting out of bed because I saw clearly gray bars in those two shots that were bookended by inky black bars outside of those shots.
I got the elevated black levels that affected the letterbox both on the ATV 11.2.5 and 11.3 Developer Beta on my LG E6. So, no change.
On my Sony Z with 11.3, the letterboxes were inky black in those two shots and there was no change from them to the surrounding shots.
Yes, it is a very limited test but what this can indicate is that the black level issues is both source and display dependent, as well as that both Sony and Apple have the fix implemented in their latest software.
