No se que entiendes por servicio técnico en línea de Microsoft. Pero si te refieres a foros/technet/KB es de lo mejorcito que hay.
Que marca/modelo de portátil es?
La tecla de Bloqueo Mayúsculas funciona?
Las teclas de funció propias del portátil (las de subir volúmen, encender la luz, brillo...) funcionan?

Insidius, es un Toshiba satellite A-300 y sí. la tecla de bloqueo de mayúsculas se bloqueaba, no funcionaba(ahora, de momento, no hace nada raro), la del volumen sí que funcionaba y lo del servicio técnico... pos que quieres que te diga... pues que soy un tarugo
y fijo que no se ni dónde me he metido
(lo hice a través de la página oficial y siempre me denegaba el acceso al foro que aparece allí... pero... ¡hoy si que ha funcionado, mira tú por donde...! y ha funcionado muy bien, me ha llevado directamente a la página de ´Toshiba para que me descargara los drivers, Veremos que ocurre

a veces lo que puede parecer sencillo para alguien más "puesto" en este tema es un verdadero problema para los usuarios sin conocimientos informáticos o poco familiarizados con estos, al menos, hasta que un compañero te da una... 
de por dónde puedes "tirar".

He formateado el PC del trabajo e instalé Windows7. El hardware del equipo no lo conozco exactamente, aunque es un Dell Optiplex 745 con unos 3-4 añitos. Lo que es seguro es que tiene 2GBs.
He instalado Windows 7 Ultimate versión 64 bits. El caso es que está muy bien, me encanta la barra de tareas, pero ya no me mola tanto que con Outlook, Internet Explorer y poco mas ya come los 2GBs y cada poco se pone a paginar a disco, dejando el equipo medio muerto (típica ventana en gris y el mensaje de "no responde").
No sé si además de ampliar a 4GBs hay algo más que pueda hacer. Hemos formateado un par de cacharros y ya estamos pensando en dar marcha atrás al Windows XP, con esos digo todo.

En mi caso he tenido mi primera experiencia con el Ultimate de 64 bits hace una semana, que lo he instalado en un portátil con 4 GB de RAM y, literalmente, vuela.

Para una máquina con 2GB de RAM deberías instalar la versión 32bit salvo que tengas pensado ampliar esa cantidad en breve. Todo lo que esté programado para 64bit ocupa más espacio y necesita más memoria que en 32bit así que el uso lógico de la versión de 64bit es a partir de donde la versión 32bit no puede llegar, que son los 4GB o más de RAM.
Si tienes W7 Ultimate seguramente podrás elegir instalar la versión de 32bit. Pruébala y ya verás como mejora el rendimiento.
Para una máquina con 2GB de RAM deberías instalar la versión 32bit salvo que tengas pensado ampliar esa cantidad en breve. Tengo continuos reinicios...
Whocrash me dice que el 80 % de las veces es problema de [FONT=Segoe UI, Arial]ntoskrnl.exe[/FONT] , el resto pues "variados"
Si es un fallo de hardware...vete tu a saber por donde a empezar a descartar elementos...
Leo que metiendo el DVD de instalación de W/ te sale la función de repara el sistema , por si acaso resuelve algo....
peor es que yo meto el disco y em sale solo instalar..nada de reparar...
Alguna idea??

Respuesta: Windows 7: Lanzamiento y primeras impresiones
Ayer me decidi a actualizar con Win7 mi vetusto portatil: un Centrino a 1.8Ghz con 1Gb de RAM y una Ati Mobility Radeon 9700.
Las primeras impresiones son un tanto mixtas aunque mas o menos buenas.
En lo positivo ahora el ordena vuela, antes el XP tardaba casi 15 minutos de reloj en arrancar y dejar de rascar de disco duro. Incluso tira el Aero con una nota de 3.8 lo cual no esta nada mal para un ordena tan vetusto.
En lo negativo, me ha costado la de dios q reconozca todo el hardware y aun asi aun tengo problemillas con algunas cosas q espero ser capaz de solucionar. Curiosamente lo mas complicado ha sido encontrar drivers tanto de audio como de video q funcionen.
En el audio tengo puestos unos del Vista para el AC97 pero el sonido me petardea y a veces simplemente no se oye nada (sobretodo los videos de youtube no suenan). Mirare de cambiarlos por otros a ver q tal.
Y en el tema video la odisea ha sido bestial. ATI ya no da soporte para mi grafica con los Catalyst, asi q directamente no hay driver para Win7. Si uso el driver del propio windows solo me deja elegir la resolucion de 1024x768 y la pantalla de mi portatil es de 1280x800. Trasteando le meti los ultimos Legacy drivers de ATI con instalacion manual y forzando el modelo a una ATI 9700 Pro, y tachan el invento tira, el aero funciona excelentemente perooo (siempre hay un pero) la resolucion que me deja elegir es de "solo" 1280x768, me faltan 32 pixeles y lo curioso es q no estira la imagen, deja 2 mini bordes negros arriba y abajo como si estuviera en scope....
Como soy bastante cabezon, sigo mirando drivers, encuentro otros instalo todo a mano poniendo como modelo una ATI 9600/9700 series, y tachannnn ya puedo poner la resolucion correcta a 1280x800, perooooo (ya os habia dicho q siempre hay un pero)... ahora el aero no va, y el indice ese del win7 me da un 1.0....
En fin q como prefiero tener el aero y perder 32 pixels de momento lo he dejado con los primeros drivers, pero por lo q veo esta chungo encontrar unos q funcionen con aero y a la resolucion buena. Ademas mis intentos de "forzar" a saco los 1280x800 retocando el registro no han dado fruto.
En general estoy contento del rendimiento del Win7, al menos ahora como esta limpito va como la seda, lo q me jode es q sea tan dificil encontrar drivers para hard viejuno. Es muy molesto ver como los fabricantes te abandonan a tu suerte, aunque reconozco q Win7 no esta pensado para maquinas tan "obsoletas" de unos 4-5 años de antiguedad y aun asi es sorprendente lo bien que va.
Ayer me decidi a actualizar con Win7 mi vetusto portatil: un Centrino a 1.8Ghz con 1Gb de RAM y una Ati Mobility Radeon 9700.
Las primeras impresiones son un tanto mixtas aunque mas o menos buenas.
En lo positivo ahora el ordena vuela, antes el XP tardaba casi 15 minutos de reloj en arrancar y dejar de rascar de disco duro. Incluso tira el Aero con una nota de 3.8 lo cual no esta nada mal para un ordena tan vetusto.

¿No te han aparecido drivers de audio y vídeo en Windows Update? Lo digo para probarlos al menos.
Por cierto, hay una forma para que Windows te reconozca correctamente las antiguas Radeon para portátiles con los Catalyst de la web de ATI, que es básicamente modificarlos para que reconozca las variantes Mobility.
Te bajas los 10.2 legacy, los modificas con el Mobility Modder y luego los instalas:

Por el windows update no me ha salido nada. Baje unos .cab de la web Catalogo de Microsoft pero creo que eran unos drivers para la beta de win7 y al intentar instalarlos me dice q nanay.
Los 10.2 legacy son los que tengo ahora puestos, pero no he hecho lo de modificarlos con el Mobility Modder, probare a ver si con eso funciona y ya lo comentare por aqui.
En cuanto al sonido, mi portatil (Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO M 1425) monta un VIA VT1612A AC97 (Onboard). Creo q fui a la web de VIA y le puse el ultimo driver para Vista y ya digo q medio va, pero probare a poner el de XP a ver q pasa o cambiarlo por algun otro de la web de VIA.

Respecto al sonido he optado por instalar los drivers de XP con el modo de compatibilidad y de momento se oye todo bastante bien.
Asi q se puede decir q ya tengo portatil con Win7 full operative.
Bueno pues mano de santo con el Mobility Modder.

Muy rápido, a la hora de hibernar, reiniciar, etc. es una bala. Es bastante completito (y eso que con Vista estaba contento - sí, soy raro)... pero...
¿Como puede ser que no haya una opción que me permita arrastrar las fotos y ponerlas en el orden que me de la gana? Es lo único que por ahora le encuentro pegas.
Antes ponía mis cositas como creía oportuno y ahora tengo que ir ordenando a "ojo de buen cubero" porque W7 no tiene la opción de arrastrar-soltar. ¿Como es posible que algo tan sencillo y de primero de Windows se lo hayan saltado?

No es una duda en sí sino una queja, my friend.
Que como es posible que a estas alturas de la historia algo tan sencillo y que siempre ha venido en todo Windows no esté en el 7... lo de arrastrar fotos, carpetas y demás dentro de una misma carpeta para ponerlo en el orden que uno quiera. No lo hay. Es como si estuviese bloqueado (o se lo han saltado por toda la "face").

Antes, en W. Vista (y en anteriores versiones) tu tenías, por poner un ejemplo, 10 fotos en una carpeta. Pues bien, por norma general se ordenan por el orden que está establecido (nombre, peso, fecha, etc...) pero imagínate que está:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...
Y yo quería el orden 1, 4, 6, 8, 5....
Pues tú cogías la foto 4, la arrastrabas donde querías dejarla y listo. Lo tenías ordenado a tu gusto pero en w7 no hay tu tía. No hay manera posible.
